Child of the World - Seyi Dinma Samuel

Growing up without a dad isn't so bad, well that's if you have a mother like mine, she wasn't all the way supportive, but she helped make sure I bagged a degree in law, great woman.

One day I picked the phone, I needed a job to see me through law school, and uncle peter had promised to get me one when I was ready.
"Hello sir, good evening" ,

"Yes , hello who is this" he replied,

"Lydia sir, you don't have my number again daddy" I laughed,

"My daughter, your brother helped me set this my new phone, but I don't know how to use it well" he replied,

"What phone sir?"

"Me I don't know oh! One spark spark something like that" he laughed, I laughed too,

"Daddy, I need a job oh!"

"Okay my daughter, come to the house on Friday evening so we can talk"

Fast forward to Friday evening, my fathers brother raped me, I was a virgin at 24 for a reason but he didn't think it was important, worst ,I was his twin brothers daughter, anytime i see my fathers photo I see the man that raped me, as if that wasn't bad enough, i went to the clinic for check up, just to realise i am tested positive with HIV.

I've spent the last 5 years spreading the virus to boyfriends and lovers, now I'm tired, tired of blaiming my dad for dying, or blaming my mom for not noticing the changes in my life, I'm tired of blaiming uncle peter, most importantly I'm tired of blaiming myself. I'm on medication now, running a rehablitation centre for women who have been abused in the past, and also people living with HIV to help them get back to the society, its tough for them.

Uncle peter faces jail time as he was sentenced yesterday. The only regret I have now is, I should have spoken up earlier.

Men in Black - Seyi Dinma Samuel

Based on a true story, with a little spices to make it fun. Some days back, a close friend and I decided to skip work and school and just stay home to rest, I was in my room till I decided to buy water, that was when I saw PHCN officials cut my wire, "chai! Bad market" I thought, "Bros, how far now you didn't even ask if anyone is at home before cutting the light" "Nobody wey get work suppose dey house by this time" the dark pot bellied one replied , I felt insulted, before i knew it, they got into their truck and zoomed off. I was furious, I had given my landlady N1,000 for the month of June, if she paid the light bill, our light won't be cut by the second of July. I forgot about the water I wanted to buy and walked into my neighbors house, their generator was on.  "Cube, how far, abeg I wan charge" I said, he gave me that look like, "don't you know where the socket is" and continued staring at his phone, h...

Lady B - By Uche Onwuemeli

This story was posted on twitter by Uche, click here  to follow him I was working as a Supply Chain Officer in Lagos, I was in charge of expediting procurement & also following up on vendors. One of our major suppliers had issues with her supply & she came to complain, she met me & I helped solve the issue. That was the Genesis. LADY B While she was leaving my office she left an envelope on my desk & walked away before I could notice, few minutes after she'd left I noticed it I opened it to check & there was N10,000 inside it, I smiled - kept the envelope back on the table & kept working. And Suddenly!! https://t.co/ntgyQRMOjy I heard a Nokia phone ring, I looked closer & found out it was beside the envelope. I picked it up & answered the call & I heard a female voice "This is Lady B" she said, "oh, hi Lady B" I reacted - she confirmed she left the envelope when I asked her just to be sure; "Keep it...

GIFT - Seyi Dinma Samuel

Bullet sounds were all over like it was the end  of the world, I had been running for over 30 mins not knowing where I was headed, till I decided to think, I remembered my friends, they too would be running for their lives, or dead by now, I crouched behind a car and picked my phone to make a call, I called Zainab, her phone was off, then I dialed Christian, same thing, I repeated the process with everyone I knew was in school with me, most were off, others rang but no one picked. I couldn't leave this town alone, without being able to take at least one person with me, but I was worried that my hero instinct would also get me killed, " what if they are dead" that question kept ringing in my head, I started running back towards to gun shots, nobody cared to stop me as I was the only one running the wrong direction, " Chris!!" I screamed!!, "Zainab!!!" "Ahmed!!" I mentioned any name that came to my head, hoping someone would recognize ...
