GIFT - Seyi Dinma Samuel

Bullet sounds were all over like it was the end
of the world, I had been running for over 30 mins not knowing where I was headed, till I decided to think, I remembered my friends, they too would be running for their lives, or dead by now, I crouched behind a car and picked my phone to make a call, I called Zainab, her phone was off, then I dialed Christian, same thing, I repeated the process with everyone I knew was in school with me, most were off, others rang but no one picked. I couldn't leave this town alone, without being able to take at least one person with me, but I was worried that my hero instinct would also get me killed, "what if they are dead" that question kept ringing in my head, I started running back towards to gun shots, nobody cared to stop me as I was the only one running the wrong direction, "Chris!!" I screamed!!, "Zainab!!!" "Ahmed!!" I mentioned any name that came to my head, hoping someone would recognize my voice, I got to our community, bodies were laid on the floor, mostly students, it was the only community that had student hostels, I had to be careful, one could hear the bandits on speak to each other, a language I wasn't familiar with, i bent down to crawl, I couldn't risk being seen, it was obvious these people were killing for the sport, so many bodies and they didn't stop, as i moved cautiously in the dark, the only light available were from burning buildings, someone hit my shoulder and dragged me into an almost demolished room, it was my friend Musa, "Kunle, shhhhh bend down" ,I obeyed,
"Where are you going to?" He asked, "I really don't know , where's Zainab and christian" I replied,
"I'm here " she said, now my senses were more alert, I could hear more breathing so we weren't alone,
"This is Zainab's house" Musa said,
"Former....." Christian corrected, a little bit louder than a whisper
"Shhhhhhhhhh" everybody replied
"Let's leave this place, before the bandits catch us here, we are like sitting ducks" I said, they all agreed, one by one, we left the dark room and back to the streets, suddenly we heard gun shots directed at us, we had been spotted by the bandits , "run!!" I screamed We ran, not recognizing where we were headed, Christan was the fastest, so the rest of us trailed behind him, he led us to a bush, we could hear the bandits shout among themselves, the bullet sounds seemed closer by the second, eventually we reached what seemed to be a police check point "stop there !!!" The man barked, we did more than that, we stopped and laid on the floor, introducing ourselves without being asked and narrating our ordeal, I don't know what we said wrong, a lady amongst us mentioned 100, probably she exaggerated the amount of people after us, in no time we heard footsteps, but they were going away from us, I raised my head to see police men run, for a second I wondered why they didn't take the car, it was faster but probably not working , we got up, moved towards the blocks and cars used as a checkpoint , there were weapons of various kinds, I was angry! Nothing seemed to be working in this country. , I picked a gun to check if it was loaded, it was, Christian did the same thing, Zainab and another lady I didn't know followed suit, it seemed we shared similar thoughts, no more running, it was time to fight.
"Everybody, stay behind the blocks and car, don't carry your head up except you need to shoot" I said, "and if you know you can't do this, run away now" Musa added.. Nobody moved, a fresher from my church signaled us to look ahead, we could see the bandits walking in the dark, I fired the first shot, my target fell , that night we fought back! These bandits kept coming, we kept shooting, and we won.

Lady B - By Uche Onwuemeli

This story was posted on twitter by Uche, click here  to follow him I was working as a Supply Chain Officer in Lagos, I was in charge of expediting procurement & also following up on vendors. One of our major suppliers had issues with her supply & she came to complain, she met me & I helped solve the issue. That was the Genesis. LADY B While she was leaving my office she left an envelope on my desk & walked away before I could notice, few minutes after she'd left I noticed it I opened it to check & there was N10,000 inside it, I smiled - kept the envelope back on the table & kept working. And Suddenly!! https://t.co/ntgyQRMOjy I heard a Nokia phone ring, I looked closer & found out it was beside the envelope. I picked it up & answered the call & I heard a female voice "This is Lady B" she said, "oh, hi Lady B" I reacted - she confirmed she left the envelope when I asked her just to be sure; "Keep it...

Men in Black - Seyi Dinma Samuel

Based on a true story, with a little spices to make it fun. Some days back, a close friend and I decided to skip work and school and just stay home to rest, I was in my room till I decided to buy water, that was when I saw PHCN officials cut my wire, "chai! Bad market" I thought, "Bros, how far now you didn't even ask if anyone is at home before cutting the light" "Nobody wey get work suppose dey house by this time" the dark pot bellied one replied , I felt insulted, before i knew it, they got into their truck and zoomed off. I was furious, I had given my landlady N1,000 for the month of June, if she paid the light bill, our light won't be cut by the second of July. I forgot about the water I wanted to buy and walked into my neighbors house, their generator was on.  "Cube, how far, abeg I wan charge" I said, he gave me that look like, "don't you know where the socket is" and continued staring at his phone, h...

ROGUE - Seyi Dinma Samuel

Something is different about me, I can't  tell what, but I feel sad. I have a new job, moved into a better apartment, yet something was missing, it was already 11:25pm so there were fewer cars on the road, but even on a busy night, there would have been little or no slow traffic, its Ilorin after all. I reduced my speed as I noticed the police checkpoint ahead, the men in black used their torchlights to flag me down, I wasn't worried or scared, maybe if I was a man I would ,but I wasn't in the mood so no coke money for them, now that I think of it, they weren't here this morning. As I put off the car, I noticed they weren't just police men but the "day light robbers" SARS. " Madam, comot key for the motor and step outside" the leader said, he was drunk, his speech was dragged. " Officer any  problem?" I asked,  " Be like say this one dey mad, forget you be woman! I go shoot shoot all the make up comot your destiny, I...
