Oge & I had been friends for a few weeks now, I met her one evening after school; she came preaching to me but I told her I wasn't interested;
"I'm in a hurry" I said but she asked for my number, "I can see you next time right?" She asked & I nodded.
The next day she called me!
I was arguing about Aristotle & Plato with my friends; shortly after we finished arguing about organic chemistry, Oge was very calm yet persuasive so it made me give her attention.
"I'll come to the female hostel later today" I said in the middle of the conversation;
"Really?"
I told her I was coming for a fellowship in school so I'd drop by the girls' hostel, I was actually going to see Lizzy my girlfriend in 'Hostel C' but I tried to throw the 'church card' to make her believe me.
"Call me when you come o" she said
"Ok"
We soon ended the call
I finished arguing with my friends & went back to my room to freshen up, I dressed up & took a bike to the female Hostel.
Lizzy & I had been dating for months, she was the perfect girl for me because she was more about giving than collecting.
A nice girl indeed
"Stop me here"
I knocked on Lizzy's door when I got there & her roommate attended to me, "Uche is here!" She echoed & in few minutes Lizzy walked out.
I hugged her, entered the room & sat by her bunk. We talked for a while, I helped her with an assignment & she fed me some good food.
I soon finished eating & immediately remembered I was supposed to see Oge, "are you in Hostel C or D?" I said when I called Oge
"I'm in C 205" she replied, I then realised that her room was down the hall. "Who are you calling?" Lizzy asked;
"It's one church sister o"
Hmmmmm OK..
I stood up in a move to go, "ah Uche are you leaving?" 2 of her roommates asked & I said yes - Lizzy stood up to walked me out, I said my goodbyes & walked out with Lizzy
Suddenly I heard a tiny voice call me!
As I looked to my right I saw Oge walk out of a room I just passed!
"Is that you oge?"
I turned to Lizzy to introduce them both I saw her face looking like spoilt beans; "what's the problem?" I asked
"I don't like that girl"
"You girls have come again!" I grumbled..
"Hi Uche" Oge said ad she walked closer"
"Hi, this is my girlfriend Lizzy"
Oge smiled at me & Lizzy, I noticed that they both wore fake smiles but I wasn't bothered
I hugged Lizzy & she left, I went to Oge's room & she introduced me to her roommates.
I said hello to them all, sat by Onyi's bed & listened to her "preach".
Until..
Suddenly!
Damn
I heard a tiny voice sob from 2 bunks away, Oge heard it too so she looked to her right & saw her roommate crying.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" She asked her roommate 'Nkechi', I looked at her & immediately had pity on her
"Sam broke up with me" Nkechi subtly replied
"What?"
We immediately stopped our sermon session, "how can a normal human being break up with an Angel like this?" I said out loud & everybody in the room turned to look at me.
I excused myself & went to Nkechi's bunk; I introduced myself, sympathized with her & I began encouraging her
We had a silent conversation afterwards & she opened up to me, while I was rounding up with her her roommates flanked me;
"I know your roommates care but if you need a guy's input please reach out to me" I said as I rounded up, stood up to go back to Oge.
"Thank you very much"
That was how I became familiar with Oge & friends, I got re-introduced to the girls;
"It's nice to meet you all"
"Nice to meet you Uche"
"Nkechi, don't mind that boy"
"Thanks"
"What's his name"
"Sam"
"I initially thought you were the boyfriend" Sandra said & we all laughed
Sandra was the only roommate of theirs who didn't dress like a 'Christian sister', "don't you know him?" I asked - "He's not me o!" I added.
"She hides him from us o!" Tina responded, Tina looked like a typical 'amebo' so I didn't believe her
"Is it true?"
"It's true"
Hmmm ok
I found out that they didn't know Nkechi's boyfriend, "wow that's strange" I said, "It's strange o our brother" Tina responded! That was how I cemented my bench in the brother zone, I bade them goodbye & left
"Let me see you off" Oge said & I told her not to bother
I left proud
I took a bike home from the girls' hostel, I got to my gate, paid & as I walked in my compound I heard a shout from behind;
"Uchman the hitman!"
Progress again?
"Guy I dun dey find you since!" He said as he rushed down to me like he was being chased by 300 Spartans;
How far?!
My heart started to beat fast as I expected the worst, "she dun gree!!" "She dun gree!!" He screamed as he grabbed me by my shoulders;
My heartbeat dropped, I wanted to get mad but I thought to be happy for him;
"Who gree?"
"My sherikoko!"
"Serious?!"
"Yes, she gree today!"
Sherikoko was a girl we met in Owerri town few weeks ago at a party, Lizzy's friend had invited had invited us for sherikoko's father 60th birthday
"Oh! Congrats" I said, I had no clue that Progress was 'toasting' cherry who he nicknamed 'sherikoko'
"Thanks! E go be" he replied
He turned to leave & I was shocked again, I asked where he was going & he said he was going to buy bread.
"I wan carry am go give sherikoko as she dey go house" he replied & dashed out, I stood there looking confused as I didn't know what was going on.
"Ok no wahala" I said
Immediately I walked in I got a call from Oge, "are you home yet?" She asked & I said yes. The situation at her hostel room spontaneously made us friends, the kind of conversation we began to have had changed; it became more personal.
After the call I dialled Tessy;
"Hey baby!"
We talked for a bit, I tried to clear the air as regards Oge because it seemed they didn't like each other, "I don't want it to affect us" I added.
"You have to stop seeing her!" She exclaimed
"Why?"
"I don't trust all those church girls that steal boyfriends with bible verse"
It was shocking because I wasn't attracted to Oge, I asked where she was & she said she was in a friend's hostel room.
Ok baby
We soon ended the call
As soon as I looked at my phone I got a message from Oge;
"He that keepeth u shall not sleep, sweet dreams son of man. Shalom"
"What a coincidence" I thought, "could Tessy be right?" I thought again as I freshened up & went to bed
The next day at school was cool, I felt good; I decided to surprise Tessy so I went to her hostel. Immediately I slighted from the bike in front of the hostel I saw Progress!!
"Hitman!"
"You this boy, you still dun reach here?"
"Oboy there is fire on the mountain!"
I wanted to shelve the reaction aside but I looked at his face & he was all shades of serious
"You serious?"
"I serious die"
"Wetin happen?"
"2 girls dey fight for up"
"Where?"
"Up"
I asked him what he was talking about & he said I should follow him, "chairman abeg my money" the bike man said & I regained consciousness.
"Oh sorry, no vex" I said as I turned to pay him, as I turned back to see Progress he had gone inside the female hostel;
"Guy wait now!"
I immediately followed suite & as I raced behind Progress I began to hear noises from the top floor, "ashawo!" I heard a girl scream
"Na your mama & sister be ashawo!" Another screamed
"These girls sef" I thought
As I looked closely I received a shocker
Tessy was fighting Oge
"Why are you fighting my Tessy?!" Progress said as he calmly went to settle them, "what has she done?" He asked Oge
"Uche what have I done to get this embarrassment?" Oge said immediately she saw me, I then became confused & worried at the same time;
"This is serious" I thought
I tried to further calm the situation, apologised to both of them to avoid being partial. I told Oge to go to her room, "I'd see you later" I said & Tessy looked at me
"He will not see you later!" Progress replied as he signalled to me that we had to leave the scene with Tessy.
I got the message so we left ahead of Oge towards Tessy's room; we had to pass by Oge's room to get to Tessy's, as soon as we got near Oge's room I heard a voice scream from their window!
"You bastard!" She screamed as She walked through the door,
"What's going on" I thought.
I looked up to catch a glimpse of who was constituting such nuisance, the feedback my eye got was shocking!
"Nkechi!" The girl from Oge's room, it was the most confusing moment of my life!
I was still trying to know why Tessy was 'fighting with' Oge my new friend;
"Now this?!"
